Some commonly asked questions
Can I be Hypnotised?
Everyone can be hypnotised to some degree or another and certainly, some are more susceptible than others. Being hypnotised is being in a trance state – exactly the same state as you are when you day dream. Although most of us are not aware of it, we slip into a trance state very often whilst driving to a regular venue and suddenly find that we have reached out destination without being consciously aware of the land marks we have passed.
Will I be hypnotised at the first session?
Each hypnotherapist have their own way of working but I firmly believe that having made the appointment then the least I can do is start working on your problem as soon as I have gained enough information about your problem to be effective.
Will I be forced to tell you things under hypnosis that I would normally be too embarrassed to tell you?
No. Although it makes things easier if I do have some idea as to what is going on for you in your mind, it is not absolutely necessary for me to know. The healing process can be just as effective however the advantage of telling me is that I can then be sure that all the work required at that point is completed and nothing is left undone.
What exactly do you mean when you talk about healing?
For many people, you mention the word healing and they think of the ‘hands on’ type healing. This does not apply to hypnosis. When we talk about healing in hypnosis we mean it therapeutically, so that whatever has been causing you distress in the past is healed and no longer disturbs you.
Will I be able to drive afterwards?
Yes, as stated above, it is no different to having a daydream.
How many sessions?
Everyone is unique with their own unique way of dealing with issues and problems. Therefore two people who may come along for e.g. fear of flying would experience their fears in different ways so just as each session is tailored to your individual needs, so too would the processing of sessions be individual. It really can vary from person to person, so what might be just 3 or 4 sessions for one, could be several for another.
